"Euro Quiz" is a gamified onboarding tool designed to modernize the training process for Transpress, a leading transport company in Bulgaria. This project was initially started as my Bachelor Graduation assignment for the CMD Game Design program at Hanze University of Applied Sciences. Its core purpose is to replace the company’s traditional onboarding methods, perceived as boring and ineffective, with an interactive, visually appealing, and educational game.
The project followed a full design cycle: research, ideation, prototyping, and evaluation. Initial research identified the training pain points through interviews, literature studies, and focus groups. Employees favored hands-on learning but found theoretical presentations dull. This insight guided the creation of design requirements focused on engagement, feedback, and progression.
The final concept selected was a map-based quiz game where players claim regions of Europe by correctly answering transport-related questions. Built in Unity after initial Figma prototyping, the game incorporates randomized questions, a progression system, visual feedback, and a scoring mechanism. Each feature was designed to enhance knowledge retention through trial and error.
User testing with both design experts and real Transpress employees revealed high engagement, ease of use, and educational value. Feedback led to further improvements such as animations, feedback explanations, and an end-game summary screen. The result is a scalable, effective onboarding solution that aligns with the company’s vision for digital innovation and employee satisfaction.
"Euro Quiz" demonstrates how game design principles can transform corporate learning. It’s a strong example of user-centered design, client collaboration, and applying research into real-world solutions.
I am currently working on finishing the project, but a fully functioning prototype and a comprehensive design process report can be downloaded from this page.
